Nitin Gupta and his family made plans to ring in the new year in Shimla, booking rooms in a hotel months in advance.
But instead of Shimla, Gupta was school hopping in Delhi on December 31, submitting forms for his daughter’s nursery admission.
School admissions for their tiny tots proved to be a party pooper for many Delhi parents who had to cancel vacation plans this year.
“I went to submit forms in Springdales School, Dhaula Juan and Delhi Public School,” said Gupta.
Schools such as Ahlcon Public School, Mayur Vihar, Cambridge School, New Friends Colony, Tagore International, Vasant Vihar, the three branches of Ryan International School, Rohini, Vasant Kunj and Mayur Vihar Phase-III and Gyan Bharti, Saket, Kulachi Hansraj Model School, Ashok Vihar closed their sale of forms of December 31.
Others like Amity International School, Saket declared list of candidates and called parents for interaction from December 31.
Rajan Arora, who runs the website, nurseryadmis-sions.com said, “Around 80 per cent parents have cancelled their vacations.”
Pooja Arora Grover had plans to visit the Jim Corbett or McLeodganj but the family was forced to stay back.
“My husband had to travel to the US in January for business, that too has been put on hold,” she said.
Some parents even put off plans to visit family within the city.
“I stay in Latpat Nagar and my parents’ place is in IP Extension. Every year I spend new year’s eve with my parents but this year I am just too preoccupied to enjoy,” said Divya Gupta.
