Parking your car in the city could soon burn a hole in your pocket. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is considering a minimum 2.5 times hike in parking charges - from Rs 10 to Rs 25 - for two hours.

"We will be creating different slabs depending on the hours the vehicle will be parked. Those parking for short periods will pay less than those who park for the whole day," said a senior MCD official.
The move comes after the Supreme Court's Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) expressed concern over the increasing traffic jams in the city. EPCA will also ask Delhi Metro to increase rates.
MCD officials have to come up with a final proposal by next week.
