Around 164 passengers, who survived the New Delhi-bound Kalka Mail derailment on Sunday, arrived at the Old Delhi railway station on Monday morning.

A medical check-up was conducted on all passengers, including women and children, at the station itself.

“We checked all the survivors. A 60-year-old woman, Kazil, was sent to trauma centre with fractures on her body,” chief medical officer Satish Kumar Gadi said. “Many others had head and leg injuries. They were administered painkillers, antibiotics and tetanus injection as needed and discharged.”

The helpline booths in New Delhi and Old Delhi stations will remain operational at least till Tuesday morning, officials said.

The survivors were visibly traumatised.
