Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar on Friday termed the Centre's Food Security Bill as overtly populist and called for a rethink on the quantum of the subsidy offered.

Pawar, while addressing party workers in Mumbai, said it could have serious repercussions on the food security.

"The country is going through an economic crisis. We are buying wheat at Rs 18 per kg and want to sell it at Rs 2 to around 68% of populance," he said.
