If you are willing to shell out an extra Rs 25 to Rs 50, you can get your LPG cylinder — or cooking gas —
at the precise time of day that you want.
In a boon for working couples, who often have no one at home to receive the LPG refill when the gas agency's delivery man arrives, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora on Tuesday launched 'the Preferred Time LPG Delivery' scheme by which customers can seek delivery at a specific time by paying extra.
The service will be launched in Delhi and the NCR, along with Pune and Bangalore, on Wednesday.
It will be extended to Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad by the end of July and across the entire country by the end of the year.
"There will be no jumping of queue because of this extra payment," clarified Jitin Prasada, minister of state for petroleum and natural gas.
"The schedule for delivery will not change. This scheme is to help customers get delivery at their preferred date and time."
"Customers who wish to avail of this facility must register through a stipulated format available with the distributors or by logging into websites of the respective oil companies," Prasada added.
