In the wake of an assurance given by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi petrol dealers have postponed their indefinite strike, slated to begin from June 14.

"The chief minister has assured us that she will resolve the diesel VAT rate issue. After going through all the facts and seeing the list of 200 pumps which have become unviable to operate, she guided the sales tax commissioner to take a very sympathetic view of our problems,” said Ashok Bhadwar, president of Federation of All India Petroleum Traders (FAIPT).

“We are also awaiting a meeting where the chief minister and the finance minister will jointly take a call on this issue within two-three days,” he added.

He further added that Haryana and Punjab CMs, till date, have not replied to the Delhi CM’s letters.
