Physiotherapist is Faridabad mayor

Ashok Arora 57, who won Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) elections for the first time, was unanimously elected as the new mayor of Faridabad on Wednesday.
The elections for 35 seats of MCF were held on May 20.
Faridabad MP Avtar Bhadana, Haryana minister for power and MLA Bhadkal Mahindra Pratap, chief parliamentary secretary and Ballabgarh MLA Sharda Rathore and local MLAs mostly belonging to the Congress held a closed-door meeting with the corporators where consensus for Arora’s name was reached.
Earlier, divisional commissioner T.K. Sharma administered oath to all the newly elected corporators and later the process for Mayor's election started. Ram Kumar, corporator of ward number 32 proposed Arora’s name for Mayor's post and none opposed.
According to Arora, senior Congress leaders of Haryana and some corporators, including himself, had discussed the issue of election of mayor with chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his residence in Delhi on Tuesday.
The physiotherapist by profession, Arora who lost MCF polls in 1994 is famous playing roles of Dashrath and Hanuman in Ramlila. He is Chairman of Vijay Ramlila Samiti, Faridabad.
“I will continue to play active role in conducting Ramlila and also the acting as I used to do,” the newly elected mayor told Hindustan Times.
