The Millennium City is fast catching up with Palika Bazaar in Connaught Place, albeit for the wrong reasons.

Tiny shops are found selling pirated versions of films, released as recently as last week, and porn DVDs for a measly amount of R10 per movie. The police have turned a blind eye to the sale of porn CDs in the busy markets even as the illegal business thrives.

Even schoolchildren were spotted buying adult movies from the counters.

When the Hindustan Times paid a visit to the local market in Sector 14, a vendor offered various combo packs of five movies for R50. “You name it and we have it. They are as good as the original prints. We will replace the DVDs if they do not work even after a month. We are here seven days a week, 365 days a year. These are pirated versions but good quality DVDs,” he said.

When the reporter asked the shopkeeper if he has stocked porn movies, pat came the reply, “Why not sir. A combo DVD of six movies for just R50.” The police, however, said they have not received any complaints in this regard so far.
