Former Law minister Ram Jethmalani and other prominent citizens on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court, seeking directions to the Centre, Reserve Bank of India and other agencies to take steps to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks.

Quoting media reports, they alleged that an estimated Rs 70,00,000 crore had been stashed away into foreign banks during 2002-04.

Terming it as a “blatant dacoity of national wealth”, they said if the money was brought back, it could remove poverty.

Constitutional expert Subhash Kashyap, former Punjab top cop KPS Gill, author Gopal Sharman, his wife Jalbala Vaidya and Prof B B Dutta are the other petitioners.
