Delhi Police have told a court in New Delhi that they are still trying to ascertain how a knife was supplied to two inmates of Tihar jail to kill the arrested former CWG Organising Committee officials inside the prison.
A Crime Branch Inspector, appointed as an inquiry officer, told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Chaudhary that "he is still doing the investigation".
"It is submitted by the investigating officer that the position is the same....Let the investigation continue till ascertaining the source of the knife," the ACMM said.
The court has told the probe agency to file the status report about their investigation every Saturday.
"Let the report be filed every Saturday," it said.
The police had appointed the Inspector of the Crime Branch to inquire into the matter as the court was irked over the probe report filed by ACP Sumer Singh, saying "it did not talk about the source of the knife."
The court had said that the ACP failed to inquire the matter properly and directed the city Police Commissioner to appoint another officer to inquire and intimate it about this.
The police, in their earlier report, had said there was no evidence to support the claim made by inmates Nishant and Amit that they were supplied with arms to kill two of the three former CWG OC officials T S Darbari, M Jayachandran and Sanjay Mahendroo inside the jail.
The former CWG OC officials are now out on bail.
