Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and a host of dignitaries on Sunday attended the wedding reception of NCP leader PA Sangma's son Conrad in New Delhi.
The reception, hosted at a five-star hotel, was also attended by several Central ministers and MPs. The former Lok Sabha speaker and his daughter and Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha played the host and received the guests.
Sangma, who was expelled from the Congress 10 years ago for raising the issue of Gandhi's foreign origin, had met the Congress chief last week and sought apology for the 1999 incident, raising speculation about his rejoining Congress. Sangma, however, made it clear that the question of his joining the Congress "does not arise at all".
