A 25-year-old man has been arrested for impersonating a policeman and cheating several people by promising them auctioned vehicles of Delhi Police at cheap rates.

Ashwani Kumar Sisodiya, was caught from near GTK Depot in Northwest Delhi on Wednesday.

Police also recovered a complete Delhi Police uniform of Head Constable rank, fake identity card, fake election card and 12 electronic items.

The arrest came following complaints from several people about being cheated by a 'head constable'.

During investigations, police stumbled upon a man in a constable's uniform arguing with a group of auto drivers.

"Head Constable Anil Kumar who was with an aggrieved person, Chand Babu, intervened, and asked the man about his posting. However, Sisodiya could not give a satisfactory reply,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N S Bundela.

He added Babu told Kumar the person wearing the uniform had cheated him of Rs 62,000 for providing an auctioned car.
