After a car laden with explosives was found abandoned at Ambala Cant. railway station, Delhi Police have increased the security at the parking of all five railway stations in the city.

They had recently conducted a security audit and found several loopholes in railway security. “We have sensitised the parking attendants at the stations. Also the bomb disposal squad randomly checks parked cars,” said BS Gurjar, additional DCP (railways).

After the high court blast, Delhi Police had conducted a joint audit and asked northern railway to install CCTVs in parking areas. Crime branch of Delhi police is responsible for security outside railway stations. The parking lots of New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations—the busiest two stations of Delhi—are not covered with CCTV cameras.

Delhi police have also asked northern railway to increase the number of CCTV at all platforms of the city’s five railway stations.
