Police bust 3 vehicle-lifter gangs; 8 held

Police have busted three different gangs of vehicle lifters who were allegedly involved in several cases of theft in various parts of Delhi.

Police have busted three different gangs of vehicle lifters who were allegedly involved in several cases of theft in various parts of the city.

Crime Branch arrested two men, Rohan and Vijay, from Rohini in the city outskirts and recovered three cars from them.

The are part of a gang specialised in day burglaries in the posh South Delhi colonies. The gang was also involved in burglaries. They broke open locks when they were sure that the owners had left and mostly took away cash and jewellery from the houses, police said on Monday.

The North-West Delhi District Police busted another gang of auto lifters and arrested two persons -- Sanjay and Avtar -- who used to steal cars from different areas. They told police that they had stolen four cars from various places and had parked two cars in Burari area.

With the arrest, police claimed to have solved three cases of theft.

The West District police also busted a gang of car stereo/laptop thieves. Police arrested four men in this connection. They are Sanjay, Madhur, Sachin and Rakesh.

Madhur is a mechanical engineer, police said. Police recovered a Santro car, one laptop and 22 stereos from them.
