This 30-year-old snatcher might just become an octophobic - a person who fears the number eight - once he steps out of jail.

A member of the dreaded 'Sonu Bihari' gang of snatchers, Manish, a resident of west Delhi's Uttam Nagar, was arrested in outer Delhi on Monday.

"He was found to be involved in eight criminal cases registered against him at various police stations; he admittedly has eight girlfriends whom he sought to impress with the money he got from his activities, and eight cases of snatching were worked out after his arrest," said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (outer).

According to the police, several teams were constituted to look into and curb the snatching incidents occurring in Rohini area.

One such team moved in on Manish after the arrest of his boss, Sonu Bihari.

"At about 7.30pm on Monday, we received specific information regarding Manish's whereabouts. He was supposed to come to the Jaipur Golden Hospital in sector 3, Rohini. We apprehended him immediately after he stepped out of the said hospital at 8.15 pm," said a senior police officer from the investigation team.

According to police, Manish and his associates used to keep changing their rented accommodation after every 20-30 days to avoid suspicion.
