Police recover 36 bikes from an auto thief duo

Two people, including a motorcycle mechanic, were arrested for their alleged involvement in innumerable vehicle thefts across various states in northern India, the police said on Sunday.
“The accused duo has been identified as Rizwan, 21 and Iqram, 23. They were arrested recently from east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar,” said IB Rani, deputy commissioner of police (east).
We recovered 36 motorcycles from them, most of which seem to have stolen from various states in north India,” he added.
According to the police, Rizwan is a tailor by profession and hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh while Iqram, a mechanic, belongs to Haridwar.
“The duo operated in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana. Not only did we recover stolen automobiles but also seized fake vehicle documents from them,” said a senior police officer.
It was Rizwan who was first caught in Gandhi Nagar and then his interrogation led to Iqram.
“We arrested Rizwan on January 31 while routine checking. He had master keys and some other instruments which a lot of vehicle thieves used .
On interrogation, he disclosed that he had stolen many bikes, mostly Bajaj Discover, from different areas in east Delhi.
On the same day, two motorcycles he had stolen from Jagatpuri were recovered,” said the officer.
Iqram who used to help Rizwan in selling the stolen motorcycles through his local contacts in the Capital.
