Water and electricity are going to be scarce in many parts of the Capital in the coming few days.
Residents of the Walled City (old Delhi) and adjoining areas would face power cuts for four days consequently beginning January 8.
The 220 KV transmission line, Indraprastha to Rajghat power house, which supplies electricity to the Walled City, would remain shut from January 4 to January 8. The line is being shifted for the construction of Ring Road bypass for the Commonwealth Games.
Water supply will be affected in several parts of the city for the next three days, as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) would carry out repair, maintenance and upgradation of its distribution network.
Supply will be affected in many areas in Central, East and South Delhi. The areas include Chandni Chowk, Darya Ganj, Kashmeri Gate, Mori Gate, Ramlila Ground, parts of South Extension, Greater Kailash, Mukherjee Nagar and its adjoining areas.
Residents of Subhash Nagar, Hari Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Tihar village, part of Vishnu Garden and adjoining areas will have to go without water on Monday evening.
Various areas in Rohini and Rithala will experience interrupted water supply on Monday and Tuesday.
The water board has asked people to store water to meet the situation. It, however, said that some of the affected localities would get water supply at low pressure.
There would be no water supply in Tilak Marg and Bengali Market underground reservoirs of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday morning.
Areas such as Bengali Market, Babar Road, Todar Mal Road, Central Lane, K.G. Marg, Barakhamba Road, Tilak Marg, Princess Park, etc., would be affected.
