Power cuts returned to the capital on Wednesday as the Naptha Jhakri power plant in Himachal Pradesh was shut down due to de-silting work causing a short fall of 250 megawatts.
Central, South and East Delhi suffered power cuts from 3.30 pm till late in the evening.
The length of the power cuts was varied from area to area.
Delhi also had to overdraw around 130 megawatt from the northern grid to meet the shortfall.
However, Delhi Transco officials maintained that the peak demand of 3,547 megawatts was met without any problem.
