Over 20 flights were affected due to power supply failure at the Air Traffic Control (ATC) of the Delhi airport on Friday afternoon.
Sources said of the 20 monitors with the ATC, three stopped working and affected the movement of flights for some time. However, the ATC continued the movement by using other monitors.
“We keep a check on the movement of arrivals and departures on the monitors. Due to some technical reason, three computers stopped working. The problem was rectified in 10 minutes,” an ATC official, requesting anonymity, said.
Though there was rumour about a radar failure, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) clarified that there was none.
“There was a power failure and the switchover from the mains to the standby mode lasted for a transition period of 12:21pm to 12:31pm. AAI radars are equipped with three levels of power supply,” an AAI spokesperson said.
“The AAI seamlessly continued with the arrivals and a few departures were released in a controlled manner,” the spokesperson added.
