Shortage of gas to run its own power plants, and unavailability of power from other major sources left Delhi powerless on Friday.
“Load shedding was inevitable,” said a power department official. The Delhi government admitted that there were four-five hours of outages. However, sources said the situation was worse.
“Starting early morning, the cuts continued the whole day,” said Satish Malhotra, resident of C.R Park.
The peak demand on Friday was 3,100 MW and Delhi drew 200 MW more than its share from the power grid.
