The BJP on Monday showered praise on finance minister Pranab Mukherjee who has recently helped beleaguered UPA government resolve impasse in Parliament on FDI in retail.
"We see a section of the leadership ... including ministerial leadership as introvert, making arrogant statements in dealing with states, opposition, civil society. Let me straightaway concede that you look a very positive exception to all this," Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley told Mukherjee.
Jaitely said this during debate on the Appropriation Bill, moved by the finance minister.
He said he had attended all-party meetings with Mukherjee. "I rate you (FM) as one of the greatest honourable exceptions....Your communication with all of us and other political parties show this."
While he considers Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as an "honourable man" without doubts on his credibility, there were questions on the leadership quality and credibility of the government, he added.
