The Ghaziabad Police have detained a teacher from a pre-school, franchisee of a reputed chain of pre-school in private education, at Nehru Nagar area on Saturday afternoon on charges of sexually exploiting a 5-year-old boy.
The matter came to light when the parents of the minor boy turned up at the parent-teacher meeting at the
school on Saturday and showed a video statement of their child alleging sexual exploitation by the said teacher to the school authorities.
The matter took a turn for the worse when 2-3 people entered the school and thrashed the teacher on campus.
"The parents have alleged that their child was sexually exploited by the teacher inside the store room of the school," senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said.
The school's co-director told Hindustan Times that the child studied in senior KG class and was absent for the past
"His parents had never complained about the incident to us till Saturday. Today, they came to the school with a laptop with a video recorded statement of their son and hurled all these allegations on the teacher," the co-director said.
School authorities said there were 140 students in the school and 25 teachers in all. They said the entire school premises was covered under CCTV cameras.
"The teacher has been with us for the past one year and we never noticed any suspicious activity on his behalf. It seems to be a pre-planned action; all the allegations are baseless," the school authorities said.
The boy's parents later lodged a complaint at the Sihani-Gate police station.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said the accused teacher was detained at Sihani-Gate police station.
His arrest would be made only after a thorough investigation is conducted into the allegations levelled by the parents, the SSP said.
