The national Capital witnessed yet another hot day with the mercury touching 40.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
This temperature was two degrees above normal for this time of the year.
The minimum temperature was recorded as 25.3 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year.
The city, however, is going to see temperatures in the range of 40 degrees to 44 degrees in the coming 10 days, with the temperature expected to touch 44 degrees on May 16.
"The maximum temperature during the first week of May rapidly increased from 36.5 degrees on May 2 to 42 degrees on May 4. It has remained in the range of 41-42 degrees during the last few days," said OP Singh, DDGM, Regional Met Centre, Delhi.
According to Singh, the maximum temperature over Delhi will be in the range of 41-42 degrees between May 8 and 10. It may decrease a little to 39-40 degrees during May 11 and 13 due to a western disturbance that my also cause thundershowers in Delhi and NCR.
The Met Department has forecast the maximum and minimum temperature to be between 41 and 25 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
