The Centre on Friday nudged Haryana to do more to prevent crimes against women in the state and advised the state police to set up women’s cell in each district. The home ministry’s advice comes days after the UPA chief Sonia Gandhi met family of a rape victim, who committed suicide.
Government sources said the Centre has asked the state to set up anti-stalking helplines and give top priority to distress calls from women. Haryana has also been asked to probe all reported crimes after registering FIRs.
