Some Hindu organisations including Sri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti, spearheading the agitation in Jammu, on Saturday held protests in New Delhi, demanding return of land to the Amarnath shrine board.
Scores of demonstrators of the Samiti along with Vishwa Hindu Parishad held protest march threatening to intensify the agitation if their demands were not met immediately.
"We will take this matter to streets of the country till the alloted land is not restored to the Sri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB)," VHP national secretary Khem Chand said.
He warned that the protest should be seen as warning for the UPA government and there could be "serious consequences if the decision was further delayed".
Criticising the government's role on the issue, convener of the Samiti Mange Ram Garg said, "the state has been affected for the past 33 days but state and central government is not bothered".
