A day after the police questioned him regarding his friend’s death, a 20-year-old student committed suicide on Tuesday morning in East Vinod Nagar in East Delhi.
The deceased, identified as Ajay alias Sachin, was appearing for his Class XII board examinations. He left behind a suicide note in which he said, “We did not kill anyone.”
On Monday, Ajay's friend Ganesh (25) was found dead in the premises of a government school in Trilokpuri under mysterious circumstances.
“My son was under lot of tension after he was called by the police for questioning. He killed himself after that,” said Pushpa, Ajay's mother.
His father Digambar (who goes by only one name) works with a construction company. Police said Ajay took the extreme step when no one was present in the house.
K.C. Dwivedi, deputy commissioner of police (east), said, “We had called the deceased boy and his two other friends to the police station on Monday evening for questioning. All three of them were good friends with the man who was found dead in the school. They were let off after questioning.”
The DCP added that all four friends were drug addicts and often went to Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Trilokpuri during the evenings. Police said Ganesh worked with a construction company and was much elder to the three boys.
“It is not confirmed whether the man who was found dead in the school premises was murdered. We had called his friends for questioning,” said the officer.
The police denied that any force was used on them during the questioning. “None of the families have approached us saying that he committed suicide after we questioned him,” said the officer.
