Traffic movement on arterial roads in central and New Delhi will be affected in the coming days till January 26.
Rehearsals of Republic Day Parade will be held on Raj Path on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday from Vijay Chowk to India Gate and the dress rehearsal on Wednesday.
For the full-dress rehearsal on Wednesday, no traffic will be allowed to ply between Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 5.30am till 12.30pm, while traffic on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg up to Red Fort will remain affected from 10am till noon.
On Friday -- the eve of Republic Day -- no vehicles will be allowed to ply on the Rajpath from 6 pm.
Traffic movement will be affected on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg up to Red Fort from 4am the next day, said traffic police.
“Elaborate traffic diversions have been planned in New Delhi and Central Delhi areas during these days,” said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
During rehearsals and final dress rehearsal, the parade will start from Vijay Chowk and terminate at India Gate via Rajpath and the C Hexagon.
To facilitate the uninterrupted movement of the parade, Delhi police would enforce restrictions on the movement of vehicles at crossings of several arterial roads like Rafi Marg, Janpath and Mansingh Road in Central Delhi.
“There will be restrictions on the movement of traffic crossings at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Mansingh Road from 9am till 12 noon on these dates,” said Garg.
