Amid government’s zeal to push reforms and clear avenues for FDI, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit Punjab on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
The tour assumes significance as FDI in retail has found support from a large section of farmers in Punjab. During his recent visit to J&K, Gandhi had strongly defended the FDI move.
Sources close to Gandhi told HT that this tour is part of his ongoing visit to states to rejuvenate the organisation. But in his interactions with party leaders and units, Gandhi is likely to address the issue of FDI and prepare the blueprint for the party’s campaign in favour of reforms.
Gandhi will visit Amritsar and Chandigarh during his tour.
"Gandhi will directly interact with different levels of the organisation and discuss current issues," said a party source.
