Vijay Bhardwaj, self-confessed suspect in the murder of Delhi Police assistant commissioner and ace sharpshooter Rajbir Singh, was on Saturday admitted to a hospital in Gurgaon after he complained of chest pain, the police said.
"Bhardwaj was admitted to the Gurgaon Civil Hospital after he developed chest pain," a police official said.
Bhardwaj, a real estate agent, told the police had shot 48-year-old Singh at his Sector-14 office late on Monday, following a row over money. The office is close to the border with New Delhi.
Bhardwaj, 42, presently in the custody of the Gurgaon police, said in his confessional statement that he pumped two bullets into Singh's head with a .32 bore revolver.
He had also said that Singh had given him the weapon three days before the incident.
Rajbir Singh was well known for being among the Dirty Harrys of Indian police. His family has now asked for an inquiry into his murder by the Central Bureau of Investigation, a request seconded by the government of Haryana.
