The Delhi High Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to remove illegal constructions in more than 500 properties, mostly residential, in New Moti Nagar in West Delhi.

Justice Sanjeev Khanna on Wednesday dismissed the plea of a Residential Welfare Association (RWA) seeking a stay on the demolition drive.

The court has given the civic agency three months to raze the illegal structures.

The order came after the MCD filed a survey report, pursuant to the court's earlier order, and said almost every household in the area has done illegal construction in some way or the other.
