One of the accused in the abetment to suicide of first-year student of Manav Rachna University, Vivek, was produced before the court on Friday.

He was remanded to one day’s police custody. The deceased Heena Kakkar had allegedly committed suicide by jumping from third floor of the university hostel late on Monday night.

Police said that during the course of interrogation, Vivek confessed to having chatted with Heena on the internet and it was through her that he knew another accused Abishek.

The family members have held Abishek and Vivek responsible.

Abishek, a class mate of deceased Heena, has been suspended by the university and is absconding.

Rattandeep Bali, SHO Surajkund, added, “Efforts are on to trace Abishek.”

On Thursday evening, the police arrested Vivek, who hails from Chandigarh and works in a Gurgaon based call centre, from Faridabad’s Sector 21C area.

Also, the police teams went to Aligarh on Wednesday and found Abishek’s house locked. “Search operation for Abishek at different places is on”, said Bali.
