Repair work to hit water supply in parts of S Delhi

Water supply in several south Delhi areas will be affected on Monday and Tuesday due to some repairs at the pump house in Greater Kailash-I. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) plans to change a part (spindle sluice valve) installed at the pump station as it has turned old.
The areas where the water supply will be affected on Monday evening are Okhla Phases I and III, Kalkaji, Kalkaji Extension, Govindpuri, GB Pant Polytechnic, Shyam Nagar Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony, EPDP, East of Kailash and adjoining areas. While the areas where water supply will take a hit on Tuesday morning are Prahladpur, Tehkand village, Tughlakabad, Sangam Vihar and adjoining areas.
According to a DJB official, the repair work will be completed by Tuesday afternoon, after which the supply will be resumed. “It is a routine process to replace the equipment and parts which have become defunct or have turned old over the period of time,” he said. The agency advised residents to store sufficient quantity of water in advance to avoid any problem. Residents could avail DJB’s tanker service.
