Several South Delhi residents have complained to the city authorities that trees in their colonies are illegally being lopped and chopped.

"Some people chopped a 15-ft Neem tree in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park in Jangpura Extension on Monday night. We have reported the matter to the police, South Delhi MCD and the forest department," said a resident.

"Earlier, a Maulshree tree was chopped and its leaves were burnt. We had reported the matter to the authorities but no action was taken," she said.
