'Rich' Jharkhand not getting its share of development: Cong

Congress today lamented the political instability in Jharkhand saying it was unfortunate that a state so rich with minerals and forests was not getting its due share of development.

"It is indeed unfortunate that a state so rich with minerals and forests is not getting its due share of development due to political instability," an editorial in the latest issue of party mouthpiece 'Congress Sandesh' said.

Noting that there was a need for political dispensation in such small states to put the welfare of the people before their own vested interests, the editorial said, "We hope sanity will eventually prevail".

President's rule was imposed in Jharkhand a little over three weeks ago after the BJP withdrew support to the Shibu Soren government following the Chief Minister voting with the UPA on the cut motions moved by main opposition BJP in Parliament.

After days of dilly-dallying and negotiations between the two parties on power sharing agreement, no formula could be worked out leading to the imposition of President's rule.
