A 26-year-old woman, working with a leading multinational company, was targeted by two men in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri who snatched her mobile phone and allegedly attempted to molest her.

The incident was reported on Friday morning.

The woman’s lawyer claimed the accused men tried to molest her but when she resisted they took away her mobile phone so that she couldn’t call the police. The woman was waiting for her office cab outside her home when the crime took place around 4.15am. She had apparently fished the phone out of her bag to make a call, when she was targeted.

“As soon as I took out my cell phone to call the cab driver, the two men who were walking, attacked me,” the victim told police in her complaint.

“One of them held me, while the other person held a knife to my throat and fled with my phone. I then alerted my father who called the police control room and informed them,” she told police.

An FIR under section 392 of IPC has been registered at Nand Nagri police station.

“The men threatened to drag her away with them when she resisted. My client suffered injury in her hand from the knife that they sued to threaten her,” the woman’s advocate said, adding that the police had only filed a case of robbery when it is also a case of molestation.

Police said that they would verify the claims.

“We will speak to her again and record her statement and add the relevant sections in the FIR. We will also question the employees of the cab,” a senior police officer added.
