Delhi Police have arrested two robbers who would visit discotheques in south Delhi to identify soft targets, after which they would followed and rob them at isolated places.
Police claimed the two youths are involved in more than 20 cases of robbery and snatching.
"Deepak Kumar, 20, and Sohan Singh Negi, 33, were apprehended from Vasant Vihar recently, following investigation into a snatching case," said H G S Dhaliwal, additional commissioner of police (South).
"We had inputs that those involved in crimes would visit Priya Vasant Lok Market and discotheques in Vasant Lok Market," Dhaliwal added.
Negi and Kumar would often visit discotheques at Priya Complex in search of rich and soft targets, police said.
They would first choose their targets and after that, follow them.
After finding a secluded place, they used to overtake them with their motorcycle and rob their mobile phones and other valuable articles.
"They would use surgical blades during the commission of the crime to threaten victims. They would be smartly dressed when going to discotheques to select their targets," Dhaliwal added.
Kumar, who hails from Jalandhar, came to Delhi alongwith his family when he was a child. After dropping out of school in Class V, he worked as a helper in a bus.
His family had disowned him earlier due to his criminal acts. Negi belongs to Uttarakhand and would drive autos. Police have recovered a gold chain, 19 mobile phones, a motorcycle and a surgical blade from the duo.
