Robbery victim identifies Dec 16 gang-rape accused

A man, who was allegedly robbed by thee December 16 gang rape suspects, has identified them and told a Delhi court that he was beaten up by the group soon after he had boarded their bus and was later thrown out of the moving vehicle after they had snatched his cell phone and cash.
Ram Adhar, a carpenter, during his deposition in the court of additional sessions judge Daya Prakash pointed towards each of the four accused present in the court room and said they were the persons who had robbed and caused “injuries to me and later pushed me (out of the bus) in a manner that I would come under the wheels”.
The carpenter in his statement said that the juvenile, who was also in the bus, was not there in the court and he had seen the minor at the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) where he was called to testify in the case.
He said the juvenile had snatched his cell phone, accused Mukesh was driving the bus and the others assaulted and looted him.
“On January 4, 2013, I had gone to the JJB and I identified the juvenile accused and I had told the investigating officer that the juvenile accused along with the others accused had beaten me. The juvenile accused had robbed me of my cell phone.
“Of those persons, Ram Singh (who has since died) was the person who had called out that the bus was going towards Nehru Place in south Delhi. On hearing him, I had boarded the bus. Accused Mukesh was driver in the bus and soon after I boarded the bus, he started driving,” he said in his statement.
“Accused Ram Singh and Akshay had pulled me inside and had beaten me. Vinay and Pawan had also beaten me and caught hold of my hands. Akshay had pressed my mouth,” Ram Adhar, whose recording of statement remained inconclusive, said.
Police said on December 16, 2012, Ram Adhar was lured into the bus and robbed before they gang-raped the 23-year-old victim on the bus in south Delhi.
