A 24-year-old room boy was arrested here for allegedly stealing two mobile phones from the residential accommodation of a Rajya Sabha member from Assam, police said today.
Naznin Faruque of Congress lost her mobile phones on April 24 from Room No 62 of Western Courts where she is staying, Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Shankar Dass said.
Her personal assistant Arun Kumar Bora reported the matter to police. During investigations, police questioned several persons staying in the Western Court premises.
"We zeroed in on one Hansraj, a resident of Daya Basti, Delhi who had served tea in the morning in her apartment. It was revealed that after serving tea, he called off his night duty and disappeared," Dass said.
Surveillance was kept over his activities and finally he was caught when he reached his house last night, he said adding during searches, both the stolen mobile phones were recovered.
Hansraj was arrested and then produced before a local which sent him to judicial custody.
