The CBI has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for anyone who gives credible information on the identities of Jishan Johar and Amjad Ali, two of the four deceased in the Ishrat Jahan encounter.
Johar and Ali, allegedly Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives were sent to Ahmedabad on a terror mission via J&K by the outfit’s commander Muzammil, according to officials of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch (CB) who allegedly executed the fake encounter in June 2004.
“We have announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for anyone who can come forward and give credible information about Johar and Rana. The identity of the person would be kept confidential,” said CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra. The agency has published an advertisement in Urdu dailies of J&K along with their photographs.
Sadiq Jamal case: CBI examines Dawood aide
The CBI examined alleged Dawood Ibrahim aide, Tariq Parveen, to verify his role in the January 2003 Sadiq Jamal Mehtar encounter. Mehtar, who was a resident of Bhavnagar district in Gujarat, was illegally detained before he was allegedly bumped off in a fake encounter on January 13, 2003.
