BJP on Wednesday forced adjournment of Rajya Sabha for a brief period pressing for government's response on the issue of Telangana and the deteriorating health of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The BJP members stormed the well and raised slogans after their leader M Venkaiah Naidu demanded that Home Minister P Chidambaram, who was present in the House, should make a statement on the issue.
Naidu said the situation in Andhra Pradesh was serious following deteriorating condition of the TRS chief and wanted to know why the government was keeping silent.
He said over 20,000 security forces have been deployed in Hyderabad and people have been prevented from staging protests and dharna over the issue.
Naidu said he had spoken to doctors attending on the TRS chief who is on fast for the last ten days and his condition was deteriorating.
"If timely steps are not taken, situation may go out of control," he said. The party members raised slogans "Telangana pe jawab do (respond on Telangana)."
Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan said he cannot force the government to respond on a Zero Hour mention.
In the melee, the Chair allowed some members to raise their issues before adjourning the House for 15 minutes during the pre-lunch sitting.
