All Sangh Parivar outfits will involve their cadres to bolster the BJP’s 2014 poll campaign, the RSS assured the BJP in a key meeting on Thursday.
In pockets in the country where the BJP’s organization is weak but another Sangh Parivar outfit is strong, the Sangh reportedly offered the support of that outfit to help the BJP’s poll efforts.
“There are areas where the RSS has an active organization, or some affiliate of it like the Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram is strong. In these belts, these strong organizations are ready to exert to ensure a better performance for the BJP,” an RSS leader told HT.
A key outcome was the Sangh’s decision to formulate a unified campaign for the entire Sangh Parivar rather than having a parallel campaign under some other rubric to indirectly benefit the BJP. “Earlier we used to campaign for the BJP under some other umbrella like a Hindu Manch. But this time we want to campaign jointly with the BJP,” an RSS leader said.
Such a campaign had been carried out in 1991, the leader said. In 2009, even the parallel campaign did not pick up, as a separate Team Advani under Sudheendra Kulkarni had taken charge of poll efforts.
