A Supreme Court bench that on Tuesday questioned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s alleged inaction on a plea to sanction prosecution of former telecom minister A Raja also frowned upon 2G spectrum allocation to Swan Telecom.

The bench said Janata Party leader Subramanyam Swamy’s allegations in a letter to the PM on spectrum allocation to Swan Telecom in which the Anil Ambani Group firm Reliance Communication has some shares, were specific.

A bench of justices GS Singhvi and AK Ganguly told Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium, “Swamy’s complaint was not a vague assertion of the alleged wrongdoings done by the respondents (telecom ministry and Raja),” the Bench said.

“Something is very interesting. Look at the complaint. This was a very specific complaint,”it said wondering why the PM did not take a decision on it for such a long time.

The bench read out the allegations made by Swamy in his complaint to the prime minister’s office over alleged scam in 2G Spectrum allocation in which he had made reference about the dummy firm of Anil Ambani group firm ADAG.

Swamy has alleged that the Reliance group firm was allotted spectrum twice, once in the name of RCom and another in the name of Swan.

He further submitted that after the allotment, shares were sold cheaply at very low price to a Mauritius-based company.
