The Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted the interim stay on tiger tourism in core sanctuary areas in the country. The apex court had banned tiger tourism in core areas in July this year.

The court also said that guidelines submitted by Project Tiger must be strictly adhered to.

An expert committee constituted by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in September decided to revise the earlier guidelines submitted to the court and allowed state governments to designate special tourism zones as per their choice in core areas which have highest tiger density.
