'SC/ST students need not pay fee'

Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Deepak Aggarwal has directed all engineering and management colleges to display the fee structure at college gate wall in bold letters. He has also asked them to mention that no fee will be taken from SC/ST students.
"We were getting complaints from SC/ST students that they have not been given admission and are being asked to deposit the fee first. A list of such students is submitted to the social welfare department which pays their college fee," said Krishan Kumar of the District Social Welfare Department.
"The college management says it cannot give me admission as it is yet to receive fee payments, running into lakhs, from the department. It has said it will refund my fee when it receives the draft from department. How will I arrange such a huge amount," said P. Kumar, an SC student.
