The Supreme Court will on Monday take up the Enforcement Directorate's status report of its investigation into the 2G scam.

A special bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice AK Ganguly will also hear the department's petition filed against Sahara group chief Subrato Roy accusing him of interfering with the ED probe in the case.

An NGO’s intervention plea seeking complete probe into the alleged irregularities in allocating spectrum prior to the 2001 may also come up for hearing.

The Citizens Grievances Redressal Forum has claimed that migration of licences from fixed licence payment fee to revenue-sharing regime and extension of licence period of existing cellular operators from 10 to 20 years without charging any fee caused R5,000 crore loss.

Meanwhile, the ED is likely to inform the SC about its move to slap a penalty of R7,100 crore on the Etisalat-DB Group, an accused in the 2G scam, for violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (Fema).

The firm has been accused of not reporting the funds it received from abroad and investing it in Chennai-based firm, Genex Exim. The firm is given 30 days to respond.
