Having braved the new semester pattern, the students of Delhi University (DU) are now gearing up for the semester-end examinations, which will start by November 23.
While the practical exam for the science courses for semester one and three will start from Thursday, the main theory papers will start on November 23. “Most of the postgraduate courses will start their exams from November 19, while the undergraduate courses will start their exams around the third week of November,” said RC Sharma, dean of examinations, DU.
While some of the science courses such as BSc (Hons) compute science, zoology, botany, physics and mathematics will start their exams from November 23, other courses such as BCom will start their exam on November 25.
Colleges, while bracing themselves for the upcoming exams, are also trying to put together last minute classes to complete the syllabi.
“The semester-end exams for semester one and three will start on November 23. The practical exams for these courses will start on Thursday. The course for most of these subjects is almost over. But whatever little is left, can be completed after the practical exams are over, because we need to wrap up classes for the semester by November 19,” said IS Bakshi, principal, Dyal Singh College.
Students, however, are more sceptical of the exams, because of the newly introduced system. “We are all slightly nervous about the upcoming exams, because all our seniors had taken the exam under the annual pattern. It’s the first time that we will be taking the exam under an absolutely new pattern, so we are trying to acclimatise to this,” said Ishan Arora, a first year student of Kirori Mal College.
“Our seniors gave us tips on coping with the exam, but some of those tips may not hold good under the semester system,” Arora added.
