With the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) deciding to increase the fare it charges schools for ferrying students, schoolbus fees are set to rise across the city.

The charge will shortly be raised by 60 per cent, to Rs 40 per km from Rs 25 per km.

The hike, though coming after a decade, is expected to raise bus fees substantially. “I am expecting an increase of at least Rs 200 to Rs 300 per month, depending on the distance the child travels,” said Annie Koshy, principal, St Mary’s School.
