A 14-year-old Class VIII student of a government school allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar on Sunday night.
Police said the minor was upset after being reprimanded by her mother for not having her dinner. The girl has been identified as Kiran. She lived with her family at Kirari Village near Aman Vihar.
According to a police officer, the girl’s mother said she had scolded her daughter for not having dinner and they had had an argument over it.
“The girl’s mother said her daughter was health conscious and wanted to have only healthy food. On Sunday night, Kiran’s mother gave her food but she refused as she was not in a mood to eat it. Kiran’s mother scolded her for not having her dinner after which the girl went to her room,” said the police officer.
Kiran’s parents kept calling her to come out of her room but when she did not respond for long, they went to check on her and found her hanging. “The girl was immediately rushed to a local hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival,” the officer said.
