The Met department has forecast that the mercury level will increase further in the next few days.

"The maximum temperature would hover around 45 degrees Celsius, four notches above the average and the minimum would be at 31 degrees Celsius Thursday. There is a possibility of dust and thunderstorms later in the evening," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and a minimum of 28.8 degrees Celsius.
