The demolition and sealing squad of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation demolished 14 and sealed two buildings, having illegal constructions on Tuesday.

The drive was conducted in areas such as Vasant Kunj, Saket, Gautam Nagar, Chirag Dilli, Khirki Extension and Madangir.

In the past one week the building department has demolished 53 and sealed two properties.

The building department carried out the action against illegal buildings with the help of the local police.

"A number of property owners had carried out illegal constructions on the first and third floor. We demolished the illegal part. People had also made additional rooms in the DDA flats. We demolished them too. In addition to this, we have also sealed illegal floors and properties in south Delhi," said a senior SDMC official.

Some under construction properties were also targeted during the drive.

According to the civic officials, the drive will be intensified in the coming days. "By intensifying sealing and demolition, we want to send a strong message to the building mafia involved in illegal construction," added an official.
